What is this Google Adsense all about.

There are many questions people ask me.

What exactly AdSense is and how it works?

How to get an AdSense account on the first try?

What it takes to earn Big Bucks with AdSense?

How to build AdSense sites at low cost and high profit. How to get traffic to your sites?

Google Adsense basically allows any website owner to act as an affiliate for Google by displaying Google's paid 'Adwords' adverts on their own website. If you sign up for an Adsense account (which is completely free), you are able to place the same adverts as are shown on Google's search results pages on your own website pages. Sample Google Adsense ads can be seen on top of the webpage as seen on http://www.freejavaguide.com/buyebooks.htm

The real beauty of the system is that Google will only show adverts that are relevant to the content of your page. They do this by crawling your web page automatically before displaying any adverts. This allows Google to get an idea of what the web page is about and they can then display the adverts that are most appropriate to your visitors which in turn means that there is more chance that your visitors will click on an ad....

So why would you want to do this?

Simple - because Google will pay you a percentage of every cent they earn when someone clicks on an advert on one of your pages.

I know many people that have been using Adsense for some time on their main websites and easily make a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars a month and that's great. Quite frankly, it is probably the easiest income you will ever make because other than adding a bit of code to your web pages, there is nothing else to do. If you have a website with a reasonable level of traffic, I would definitely give it a go. Some people have a concern that by using Adsense, they may lose potential customers as they could click away from their site and this is a genuine possibility so you should take care when considering where to place adverts and on which pages. On the flipside, I know a couple of people that are now making more money from Adsense each month than they were selling their own product so they are more than happy with this arrangement!

If a few hundred dollars a month isn't enough to excite you, maybe you would be more interested to know that there are people out there earning, quite literally, tens of thousands of dollars a month purely from Google Adsense! Yes you did read that correctly and these are not wild claims, this level of income really is possible - my own Adsense record is just under $6,000 in a single month!

Increase your website traffic now

How can I get more traffic? This is a question I hear a lot.

Learning Search Engine Marketing takes lots of commitment and a lot of time researching what’s new since our industry moves very rapidly. For those who want a fast jump start in our industry but don’t know where to go, these tips should help you get started. You have created a brilliant website and now it's time to get some traffic. This guide can give you some help on how to succeed with website promotion.

1 · Title of the page
The title of any web page should be descriptive and explain the contents of the page well. Your title should give the surfer and a visiting search engine spider, the whole idea of the contents website.

2. Email Advertising
Email advertising is often considered by many people Spam, however it could be an effective tool to use and not make it considered as advertisement. The best way to use email is through newsletters, mailing groups(Yahoo groups being the most popular) and opt-in mailing lists.

3 · Domain and the URL
If you have - in between your keywords in your domain name it will act as a space in between words. So if a search engine user were to search for "free java guide" and I had a domain name of http://www.freejavaguide.com then I would have a better chance of getting a higher place in the results page than my competitors.

4 · Content
On your page you should always try to have a healthy amount of descriptive text to explain what the page is about, don't rely on the title of the page. You should aim to have your keyword in the text as much as you can, with it still being comfortable to read. This is known as keyword density.

5 · H1, Bold, Italics
You should have your main keywords once in an Hx tag, once in bold and then once in ITALICS, this should show the search engine crawler that these are important words/phrases for the page, so in turn the crawler will make the assumption that the keywords are important for a visitor.

6 · Anchor text
Anchor text is what we call text links. You should always try and have all text links as descriptive keywords. When a spider follows the link to your page it should have an understanding of the content. Anchor text is a great way of improving your rankings on competitive keywords.

7 · Fresh content
As far as Google goes, it loves fresh content. They have a fairly new spider that they call the freshbot, it crawls the web daily looking for new/updated pages and sites. It will then list the page at the top of their index for that sites keywords. Google are doing this to keep their index topped up with the freshest pages and sites, instead of old information. If you keep you're site updated daily you should be able to keep the site close to the top of the search results.

8 · Domain check
If you are going to buy and use a URL that may have already been used in the past, it is worth while checking the history of the URL. If for some reason the site was banned by a search engine for any number of possible reasons it can still carry that penalty for many years afterwards.

9 · Page submission
Before you submit your site to the engines make sure that your site is search engine optimized.. Submit the root page to all the big search engines on the Internet: Google, Yahoo, MSN. It will take them a while until they crawl your site fully but be patient. There are plenty of directories online, find one that fits the theme of your site and submit the root URL, again this may take a while but be patient. Do not keep resubmitting if you're not yet listed. You may be penalized for this and your site may take even longer to get listed if at all.

10 · Link Building
Exchange links with sites that are on the same topic as your own. Link popularity is considered an important factor by many search engines to achieve a high ranking ,so you would want your link on as many other sites as possible. Links from sites related to yours are also given more weight by the search engines so you should try to get your link on such sites.

If you want to find sites to exchange links with, check out who's linking to your competitors and try to exchange links with them. Keep in mind that a link exchange should be beneficial for both parts.

Here are a few ideas to build links without too much effort

1. Write press releases.

2. Write articles on the theme of your business (These articles can fetch you many links)

3. Submit to paid and free directories (DMOZ! and yahoo are a great start)

4. Design a tool or free product with your link on which when people download to their site provides you with free link.

5. Submit your articles to article submission websites

6. Create a blog on another domain and link to your main business website.

7. Buy advertising (i.e. links or banner) to you website

8. Write a newsletter, and publish it on your site - if people like the content, they will link to it.

9 . Write an e-book and publish it on the net. Keep it for free download till it gets the required traffic.
